Card drive!!!!!

I am so excited to finally get this started! This is my first ever card drive for 2nd Battalion 3rd Marines. Let's all help make sure that our service members recieve mail. I am also super excited to announce that Munchkins has donated some craft items to be given away!!!!!!! Thank you SO much Cynthia. For all of my local ladies in Hawaii make sure you pay her store a visit she carries some super cute stuff, here is a link to her site:http://munchkinsrubberstampshawaii.blogspot.com/

So let's get to business... To be eligible for the give away you must send me cards. I would greatly appreciate more than one but I will take any amount you are able to send. Just leave me a comment with a way to contact you for the address you will need. I need to recieve the cards no later than November 1st so that I can get them mailed in time for Thanksgiving. The cards do not need to be holiday themed, anything goes. Also you do not need to become a follower but I would appreciate it. Thank you so much for all of your support!!... I will be picking a winner for the give away after Nov 1.

UPDATE:

I am happy to announce that Sarah from Pink Cricut has donated a $20 gift certificate to her Pink by Design store. Thank you SO much Sarah for your support!! If you don't know about Sarah already please go check her out. http://www.pinkcricut.com/

I will now have 2 lucky winners for some great items.

Hi Rachel I'd like to get involved too. Pls email me at chris.kim33@yahoo.com. My fiance was stationed out in HI while serving in the Marines. He was a crew chief on CH-53 with HMT301 which is part of MAG24 back in 98. He's out now but we still love to support our troops! Thank you for the service that your husband performs and thank you as his family as well!

I'd love to help and make some cards. I remember when my military spouse was over seas and letters/cards were the only means of communication (this was pre-internet/email/video chat).

I am a wife of x marine that was in Japan for 13mo., he lived for mail & I had friends that mailed to his buddies that had no families that sent mail, I was shocked at the number of men that had no family! This was also like Kathy said prenet,em,vc. Sarah has got me hooked on making cards & have plenty to share. Please send address & any special instructions. Thanks, Suella

This is an awesome idea, and I will share it on my blog. I did want to let people know there is an organization that does this on a large scale (but there's no guarantee that this Battalion would get cards, so we still need to do this with Rachel!) called Operation Write Home. You can go to their website at http://operationwritehome (dot) org and find all kinds of helpful information. One thing people here should know if that cards SHOULD NOT CONTAIN GLITTER that can come off the cards. It spills on uniforms and makes our soldiers VERY visible to ememy with night vision goggles. Stickles and other embeded glitter is fine, but loose glitter will actually increase the harm these men and women face. There are other things that should be considered on the Operation Write Home site.

Rachel,

My daughter's preschool will be making cards for our soldiers as part of our Community Helpers series this Friday. We will be using a flag image by Laurie Wilson and accents from the Cricut Stand and Salute cartridge. I'm pre-cutting all of the materials today. If these cards would be acceptable for your card drive, I will happily send them to you the week of October 18.
